Another exceptional coffee from 'The Land of a Thousand Hills.' This coffee is certified Fair Trade and Organic and the producers use organic manure fertiliser and mulch with coffee pulp, making this a delightfully circular process with very little waste.
The fully washed process involves selecting ripe coffee cherries by hand and flotation, de-pulping and dry fermenting, final high-pressure washing and grading then drying in the African sun on raised beds for two to three weeks. The final beans are hand picked to ensure the very highest quality.
Rwanda’s rich volcanic soils, plentiful sunshine, and tropical rainfall provide perfect conditions for the cultivation of arabica, and the Bourbon variety particularly excels in the high elevations of Rwanda’s mountains.
The Twongerekawa Coko cooperative works with 1200 smallholder farmers with around 1.3 hectares each, ensuring the utmost dedication to quality across all the micro-lots. As always, we select coffee from co-ops that practice sustainable methods and pay a fair price to the producers.
